Tax law, IRS guidance and annual figures change. Each lesson and article shows the tax year it covers, the date its figures were checked and the date they are due for review. After that review date, the page says so in red pen until the figures are re-checked. A figure may be out of date even before its review date if the law changes; the sources policy explains how corrections are made.

Worked examples, quiz scenarios and game notes use hypothetical people and round numbers, labelled as such. They show how a rule works; they are not rules themselves and they are not anyone's real return.
