The short version
Where to begin
Watch one lesson
Each video teaches one rule, with chapters, captions and a transcript. When the first one is public on YouTube, it appears on the Watch page.

A path puts a handful of lessons in order, from the first idea to the last. Pick the one closest to your year.

A few questions at a time. Wrong answers explain themselves, and nothing counts against you.

How this site works
No account, ever
Your level, XP and badges live in this browser. An export code on My Desk moves them to another device.
Every figure is checked
Each figure shows its source, the date I checked it and when it is due for a re-check. If a re-check is overdue, the page says so in red pen.
Points for the fun of it
Points and badges are for fun. Nothing is ever won, bought or redeemed. There are no leaderboards.
General education
Lessons explain how a rule works. The right answer for you depends on your facts, so check how it applies to your own situation before you act on it.
Questions welcome
Ask in the YouTube comments and a question may turn up in Office Hours. Please leave out names and notice numbers.
Made for everyone
Captions and a transcript on every video, quizzes and a game you can play with a keyboard, and less motion if you prefer it.

Who is teaching
I'm Hunter Nottingham, a CPA in Charlotte, North Carolina. I hold a law degree, but I don't practice law.
I make these lessons to teach how tax rules work, one idea at a time, with every figure checked against its source and dated. This site is a teaching project, separate from my firm.
